Senators Who Voted To Protect Oil Tax Breaks Received $23,582,500 From Big Oil

This is beyond sickening.  When did  "For the People" change to the below?

Senators Who Voted To Protect Oil Tax Breaks Received $23,582,500 From Big Oil:

In a 51-47 vote, 43 Senate Republicans and four Democrats filibustered to protect $24 billion in tax breaks for Big Oil. Although a majority voted for Sen. Robert Menendez’s (D-NJ) bill, it fell short of the 60 needed. The only two Republicans to break rank were Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) and retiring Sen. Olympia Snowe.  To reade more:

GEORGIA MOST CORRUPT STATE IN THE USA ACCORDING TO CENTER FOR PUBLIC INTEGRITY

A CALL FOR ETHICS REFORM IN GEORGIA

As pertaining to the Center of Public Integrity report posted below, there are no surprises here.  What we encountered in Georgia since 2005 in child advocacy (even going back as far as 2000 for some advocates and still going on), was exhibited in Georgia's blatant obfuscation of the truth with no accountability, lack of ethics, protection of its own,  apparent corruption, and ineptitude among those in supervisory positions.  From the below article, someone outside Georgia's "beltway" got it.  Public access to information that was subjectively doctored or inappropriately edited  in violation of Georgia's own statutes governing the Open Records Act comes to mind.  Or perhaps supervisors claiming there are no such documents, only to have them suddenly appear.   More vindication, yet no accountability.

Sandusky labeled 'likely pedophile' in 1998 report by psychologist

By
NBC News
updated 3/24/2012 3:29:08 PM ET2012-03-24T19:29:08

"More than a decade before former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with more than 50 counts of child sex abuse, a psychologist warned university police that his actions fit that of a “likely pedophile’s pattern.”
The finding by State College, Pa., psychologist Dr. Alycia A. Chambers, the therapist for one of Sandusky’s alleged victims, was contained in the internal Penn State files of a 1998 police investigation of the former coach for showering and bear hugging her client and another young boy in the school’s athletic locker room."

JUROR IN JOHN GOODMAN DUI MANSLAUGHTER TRIAL COMMENTS ON GUILTY VERDICT - TESTIMONY NOT CREDIBLE

ABC NEWS REPORT - GOOD MORNING AMERICA

 http://abcnews.go.com/US/polo-tycoons-story-credible-juror/story?id=15991414
No surprises here as Mr. Goodman's testimony included boundless inconsistencies and lacked credibility.  Whose fault was that?

Mr. Roy Black, Mr. Goodman's attorney released a statement :
"It is our belief that multiple errors were committed during and before the trial that, in effect, denied our client's ability to get a fair trial," Black said. "We intend to file an appeal so that our client can receive the just and fair proceeding to which he is entitled by law."
It is our belief multiple errors were committed by the defense attorneys.   Can Mr. Goodman appeal on the grounds that it was his attorneys that screwed up?  Throw anything out there and see if it sticks?   The theories conjured up by the defense team appeared preposterous.  Did the defense think the jury was that stupid?

Granted, the move to adopt ones girlfriend to protect ones assets was financially creative, but it was a PR DISASTER! Which bright one could not anticipate the fall-out from this?

In memory of Scott Patrick Wilson

A glimpse of John Goodman when life was simple ... A glimpse of Roy Black who should have canned his "soap box"...

This is a far cry from the John Goodman that took the witness stand in his own defense Wednesday, March 21st, 2012 for his DUI- Vehicular Manslaughter trial in the death of Scott Patrick Wilson age 23.

Watching his testimony was shocking. It was not what was said. It was Mr. Goodman's demeanor, which generated whispers, texts, twitters - you name it. Jaws dropped, brows furrowed, smirks were rampant, and, yes, even empathy followed.

Those that did not personally know Mr. Goodman, might have wondered if he was Special Needs; did he have a speech impediment? Next, inquiries went out as to whether Mr. Goodman could be medicated. Then, of course, why on earth would Roy Black put Mr. Goodman on the stand?

Mr. Goodman had selective memory loss. He contradicted his 911 call. "I'm in big trouble, huh?" he said. "It's just horrible. I just didn't see the car coming." "I just pulled out in front of someone."  He hit a car. He testified he didn't know he hit a car. The two glasses of wine disappeared and turned into two shots of tequila. A light was on at a barn that was off. He had an undiagnosed concussion. He hopped over a fence - the gate was open.   He only went to the Players Club 5 times a year - oops - 3-4 times a month.  He was on his way to Wendy's to get a "frosty."  Oops, a drug term for cocaine - poor choice of words. There were more "I don't knows" or "I don't remember," than a child that got caught with their hand in a cookie jar.  Which raised more questions.  One in particular stands out, "How on earth, did this man before us, 'build' International Polo?"
Another troubling question, with Mr. Goodman's 'seasoned' defense team, why was Mr. Goodman so ill-prepared?   Did Mr. Black and Mr. Shapiro honestly think Bentley was going to stay silent?  The prosecutor was generous in stating the defense team was "formidable."

911 calls -

Whether staged or not, Mr. Goodman did illicit sympathy for a moment in time, until one remembered that an innocent, beautiful young man named Scott Patrick Wilson perished because of John Goodman's negligence. A grave, horrid error in judgement destroyed so many lives, including Mr. Goodman's own life. Mr. Goodman is breathing. He was given a gift and those that saw those crashed cars, know it was Scott Patrick Wilson's car that probably saved Mr. Goodman from going into that canal. Scott Patrick Wilson was not offered grace, yet in his death, he gave it.

The video above shows an alive, joyous John Goodman in 2009. It is a stark contrast to what we all observed on the witness stand Wednesday. The prosecutor essentially stated in her closing that she did not believe Mr. Goodman to be a monster, a "bad" person.
She did state that she is asking for accountability. She was right.  Mr. Goodman's remorse, although evident, was not vocalized  thanks to his attorney, Mr. Roy Black.   Mr. Black issued a statement of apology to the Wilson family for Mr. Goodman a while back. Mr. Black blew it in more ways than one. For his client, accountability, it allows you to own it, and let go of the monsters inside that will eventually destroy you.  We will not even go there for the Wilson family.

Whatever sympathy was left for Mr. Goodman, all was lost when Mr. Black started grandstanding at the end of his closing. Mr. Black not only thanked everyone, he blessed everyone, including the USA. Then, Mr. Black stumbled over "From sea to shining sea." It appeared all that was missing was Mr. Black's rendition of "America." Totally bizarre for someone that isn't running for office ...

Other than feeling totally sad, one could not help
wondering, "what exactly was in that water they were all drinking?"

And that's my take.

UPDATE : GOODMAN'S OWN DEFENSE WITNESS STATES GOODMAN DID NOT STOP AT THE STOP SIGN!

WPBF offers extensive live coverage of John Goodman's trial, along with documents, events, the 911 call, et al.  To access:
http://www.wptv.com/generic/news/Goodman-Page-the-trial?jlkr

3/20/2012 -  Goodman's own defense witness just testifies that Goodman's car DID NOT STOP AT THE STOP SIGN!  Is Roy Black now going to target the Bentley's malfunctioning as the reason?  The defense had previously stated Goodman stopped at the stop sign.  The defense cannot have it both ways!
Now, the defense team claims the PBCSO missed that there was a secondary impact.  So ?

3/14/2012 - After watching the trial today, one wonders how defense attorneys Black and Shapiro sleep at night.  Court resumes tomorrow at 8:30 AM.

Today, defense attorneys would like the jury to believe:
A)  That John Goodman was not drunk.
B)  That John Goodman came to a full stop at the stop sign. Then, inexplicably the car accelerated on its own plowing into Scott Wilson's car at 10 miles an hour, sending Scott and his car upside down into the canal.  Right.
Next the defense will ask the jury to believe that John Goodman actually believes his girlfriend, Heather Colby Hutchins (42) whom he adopted in October of 2011 to protect his assets, is his daughter.  Please.

3/13/2012 - This morning, defense attorney Roy Black maintained John Goodman's Bentley "malfunctioned."  Malfunctioned, indeed.

Bentley Motors: John Goodman’s Defense Attorney is Full of it! | Gossip Extra

Valentine O'Connor, Bentley's spokeswoman, responds to defense attorney Roy Black's blaming of the DUI fatal crash that took Scott Wilson's life on Goodman's Bentley malfunctioning:
“Those claims are without merit,” O’Connor said. “Anytime the brake pedal is depressed, it cuts the throttle. We don’t have any such incidents (sudden acceleration) on record.
“All Bentleys have smart-pedal technology, meaning the ‘brake pedal wins’ over the accelerator whenever the throttle and brake are depressed together.”
O’Connor added that Bentley Motors is “not a party to the pending criminal action.”

FATAL DUI TRIAL OF POLO MOGUL JOHN GOODMAN IN THE DEATH OF AN INNOCENT SCOTT WILSON

Jury Selection Begins In Fatal DUI Trial - West Palm Beach News Story - WPBF West Palm Beach
Scott Wilson  Photo provided by family to the Palm Beach Post

Scott Wilson was a beautiful, innocent, 23 year-old young man, with his life ahead of him. A graduate of Wellington High School in Wellington Florida, he went on to graduate in 2009 with a degree in engineering from University of Central Florida. On February 12, 2010, he lost his life to an alleged drunk driver, who was reportedly high on "prescription drugs," by the name of John Goodman. Scott Wilson was returning home to celebrate his sister's birthday. John Goodman, the well-known owner of the International Polo Club in Wellington, was allegedly driving his Bentley on Lake Worth Road in Wellington, ran a stop sign, slamming his Bentley into Scott Wilson's Hyundia.

"The impact sent Wilson's car across the intersection of Lake Worth Road and 120th Avenue, flipping it upside down into a nearby canal. According to reports from the county medical examiner, Wilson drowned inside his vehicle.Authorities said Goodman left the crash scene on foot and made his first call to 911 54 minutes after the crash was first reported. He would soon be charged with DUI-manslaughter and vehicular homicide."

To protect his assests, Mr. Goodman recently adopted his 42 year old girlfriend, Heather Colby Hutchins.

Jury selection begins today in the DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide case against John Goodman. To watch:http://www.wpbf.com/news/30619218/detail.html

Scott's death not only shattered the hearts and lives of his family, but those lives of Scott Wilson's wonderful friends and their families, that he graced as well.

John Goodman offered no grace to Scott Wilson, but left this beloved young man to perish in the canal's water.  His inhumanity left unimaginable grief and despair behind.

WPBF WEST PALM BEACH has established a coverage page details the events of the car accident, the surrounding investigation, the witnesses, the trial and more. Here you can view the case documents, read the witness interviews, listen to the 911 calls and get the latest information about the criminal trial as it is happening.

Update: Georgia Judge David E. Barrett who brandished gun in court to leave bench  | ajc.com

Judge who brandished gun in court to leave bench ajc.com
Judge David E. Barret has decided to step down from the bench into retirement after pulling out his gun in court.

"In a letter sent Wednesday to Gov. Nathan Deal, Chief Superior Court Judge David E. Barrett of the Enotah Judicial Circuit said he was retiring on Thursday. Deal, who will name Barrett's replacement, accepted the retirement letter."

"Feigning to offer his gun to the woman, Barrett told her she was killing her case and then told her, "You might as well shoot your lawyer," according to District Attorney Jeff Langley, who was in the courtroom at the time. Langley said Barrett was trying to make "a poor rhetorical point."
